The Cape Sports track and field program offers children the opportunity to develop their skills in a variety of sprint, distance, and field activities in competitions through intramural club practices and meets. Skills and conditioning gained in track and field will also benefit athletes involved in other sports as well.
Our program is for children and teens from 4 to 14. The dates are still being worked out at this time, but we are planning on a six week program between June and July. There may be some interruption due to sports camps at the High School. The cost will be $60 per participant and at this time we do not plan on offering drop in registrations for individual meets. All registrations must be done through the Cape Sports website.
Participants are introduced to sprint, distance, and field events and then will compete in those events in which they have an interest. The program’s emphasis is on training and building skills. Athletes will compete against others of their gender and/or age. Age is determined by the information provided to us by the Cape Sports on the registration forms. Meet ribbons and/or medals will be given in all events for all age groups.

When does the Program start? Wednesday, June 7
When are practices and meets? We will practice from 6:15 to 7:45 Mondays and Wednesdays. We will use Fridays to make up rain-outs. There will be three track meets during the program on Wednesday or Friday nights. The track meets are approximately 2 hours, maybe a little longer.
We will have practice at Bay Head Park (1661 Bay Head Rd, Annapolis, MD 21409) for the week of June 19th and July 17th. This is due to sports camps they are having at the high school.
What is the registration cost? $60
What do I need to bring? The child should have athletic wear, water bottle and running/athletic shoes, preferably NOT basketball shoes. Running spikes are NOT required.
